On October 21, 2023, the North Andover Merchants Association hosted a ribbon cutting with Town officials to welcome a new business in North Andover: The Purple Couch Bookshop

Located at 350 Winthrop Avenue (the North Andover Mall), the Purple Couch Bookshop aims to be a source for a curated selection of new titles for all ages. The shop looks forward to bringing great authors to North Andover to meet and talk with the community.  It hopes to foster a sense of community as it shares discussions on new books in various genres with its book clubs.  The Purple Couch is passionate about literacy and wants to create a love of reading from an early age with story hours.

Town officials present at the ribbon cutting included Town Manager Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues, Select Board Chair Laura Bates, and Select Board Member Janice Phillips.  Also present were State Senator Bruce Tarr, State Representative Adrienne Ramos, and staff representing State Senator Barry Finegold and Representative Tram Nguyen.
